System overview

High-precision, safe travel manoeuvres in high-bay warehouses.

The inductively guided vehicle follows a guide wire embedded in the floor. The Keltronik wire generator (LDU) feeds this wire with a precisely shaped alternating current and forms the physical basis for guidance. If the truck deviates from the path, the steering corrects automatically. The operator only controls speed and lifting – the system handles guidance.

Guide wire embedded in the aisle floor with LDU generator
01

Wire generator

Feeds a precisely shaped alternating current into the guide wire embedded in the aisle floor.

02

Magnetic field & guide wire

The current forms a precisely defined magnetic field along the planned travel path.

03

Vehicle antennas

Three coils per antenna capture lateral offset, height and angle relative to the guide wire.

04

IFE steering unit

Processes the signals in real time, controls the steering and monitors the system.

Advantages in VNA operation

Why inductive guidance – and why Keltronik.

In very-narrow-aisle operation, millimetres decide throughput and safety. Inductive guidance is the proven standard here – and our system sets the reference for precision, robustness and longevity.

Efficient use of space

Travel paths are minimised to the millimetre – more floor area for racking and higher storage density in the same building.

Higher throughput

Travel, lift and lowering speeds can be raised significantly, because guidance is no longer dependent on the operator.

Operator relief

The operator focuses on load and speed. Fine steering, alignment and corrections are handled by the system.

Significantly safer

Continuous self-monitoring and a defined vehicle stop on deviation – predictable operation, fewer incidents.

Versus optical guidance: simply the more dependable technology.

Six points where inductive guidance beats camera- and marker-based systems in real-world warehouse operation.

Immune to contamination

Oil, dust, tyre abrasion, spilled goods or scratched floors do not affect inductive guidance – unlike optical systems.

Light-independent

Unaffected by lighting, glare, shadows or sunlight through doors. Identical performance around the clock.

Any floor surface

The guide wire lies beneath the driving surface. Re-coatings, repairs or joints do not compromise guidance quality.

Tamper-proof & robust

Electromagnetically guided instead of visually interpreted – no misreads from damaged markings or stray lines on the floor.

Millimetre repeatability

The travel path is physically defined and stays stable for years – with no recalibration or resurveying of optical markers.

Minimal maintenance

No sensor cleaning, no replaceable floor markings. Once installed, decades of reliable, low-disruption operation.

The components

Building blocks of a perfectly matched system.

All assemblies are developed, manufactured and tested by Keltronik – from the wire generator to the antenna.

Wire generator
LDU-21 / LDU-22

Wire generator

The wire generator feeds the guide wire with a precisely shaped alternating current signal. Available for 110 V (LDU-21) or 230 V (LDU-22), an internal power board converts mains voltage while a generator board shapes the output signal. Status indicators for mains and guide wire as well as a battery test button sit directly on the enclosure.

  • Battery back-up on mains failure
  • LED and buzzer status indication
  • Up to 1,200 m guide wire per loop
  • Cascadable for longer installations
Vehicle antennas
Antenna module

Vehicle antennas

Mounted to the millimetre against the centre line. Each antenna contains three coils that simultaneously capture vertical offset, lateral displacement and angle relative to the guide wire. An integrated preamplifier delivers clean signals over a shielded 5-core cable to the control unit.

  • Three-coil principle per antenna
  • Onboard preamplifier
  • Rugged design for continuous duty
  • Compatible with all IFE steering units
Steering controller
IFE steering unit

Steering controller

The IFE processes antenna signals together with data from the steering angle encoder and vehicle electronics into precise steering commands. The steering controller is now supplied only as a spare part for existing systems – keeping your established installations economically in service.

  • Spare part for existing installations only
  • Continuous self-monitoring
  • Safe vehicle stop on fault
  • EEPROM storage for vehicle profiles

Legacy installations

Legacy wire generator

For legacy installations and retrofit projects we supply compatible previous-generation units and matching spare parts – keeping established installations economically in service.

  • Long-term spare part supply
  • Compatibility with legacy systems
  • Retrofit to current IFE possible
  • Inspection and repair in-house
Turnkey installation

On request: guide wire and generator, turnkey.

In addition to delivering and commissioning the steering system, we can – together with specialist partners – also take care of laying the guide wire and installing the guide-frequency generator on request. You receive a fully calibrated, ready-to-run system from a single source – from aisle layout to hand-over.

  • Aisle layout and design
  • Guide wire installation
  • Guide-frequency generator installation
  • On-site calibration and acceptance
